What We Do

Linus Blanket

Since 1930, the Lombard Junior Women’s Club has been dedicated to community service, philanthropic work and friendship. We take great pride in the countless hours our members have worked to improve our community through service and philanthropy.

Since 1983, we have sponsored TLC Camp, a week-long day camp for children with cancer and a sibling.  We started with 11 campers and today, regularly have 100 children at camp.  Please visit www.tlccamp.org to learn more.

Beginning in 1999, we have made sizable donations to local organizations as selected by our members.  Those benefiting include:  Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry, First Things First, Diecke Home, Sandwiches for Vets, Marklund Charities, DuPage Community Clinic, District 45, Bottomless Closet, National Foundation for Cancer Research, American Red Cross (Katrina), Child Voice and Outreach House.

In 2001, we began our sponsorship of the Lilac Princess Program, providing scholarships for young women from Lombard, ages 16-21.  The Princess Program is a time-honored tradition in Lombard since 1930, and we are proud to support it.  We are also advisors for the Lilac Juniorettes, area girls from the ages of 12-18, who are interested in community service.

We provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts to area residents through York Township.  We assist seniors in the community through support of Humanitarian Service Project and Meals on Wheels.  We provide food and entertainment for the NEDSRA Halloween Party.  LJWC supports veterans by providing meals at Fisher House, monetary donations to Hines VA Hospital and sending manufacturer’s coupons to our service people at the naval base in Rota, Spain.

In case you think all we do is work, members enjoy Book Club, International Dining Group, Craft Nights, Movie Outings and much, much, more.

The interests and concerns of our members are varied and club membership is a great way to share these interests and find others with similar concerns.  Members are diverse, but united in their desire to help those in need.
